The JSF has been supporting the fine folks at the Soundhouse Project in London who aim to transform the difficult emotions caused by challenging circumstances into positive energy through music.
As part of our support, our friends at Marshall donated a brand new Natal drum kit which is sure to be put to very good use. Big thanks, as ever, to them.
“We are excited and encouraged by our collaboration with the Joe Strummer Foundation over the last nine months. The partnership with our Sound House programme https://soundhouseproject.co.uk/ has focused on a shared interest in creating accessible opportunities for music-making as a means for people making positive change in their lives. Single Homeless Project provides housing and specialist services to young people, adults with complex needs and/ or long-term mental health issues, who have faced multiple exclusion and disadvantage
Our work together has focused on the development of a studio hub in a large hostel in central London, resourcing the equipment we can make available there, and the sessions and opportunities we can create for learning and showcasing people’s talent. We are looking forward to developing our work together with JSF in the coming year and building the community we have started” – Lee Murphy, Head of Programmes, Single Homeless Project
Soundhouse is part of the Single Homeless Project, a London-wide charity working to prevent homelessness and help vulnerable and socially excluded people to transform their lives. For more information please visit their website – https://soundhouseproject.co.uk/
