On Thursday 3rd October the Tech Music School officially announce the opening of the Strummerville Room as part of their new building in Fulham. We are honoured to be Tech Music School London’s nominated charity, something we know Joe would have been so proud about.
Here is a few words from Tech Music School principle Andrew Bates: “This room, the Strummerville Room, is our flagship public-facing performance space and has been designed in collaboration with our partner Strummerville and equipped by Peavey. We are immensely proud of our partnership with Strummerville and to be able to support the outstanding work you undertake to support musical talent among young people who would not otherwise be able to afford it.
The first phase of our work together is now complete – this fabulous room which seeks to inspire students with images and words drawn from Joe’s papers, and the establishment of a full scholarship to enable an outstanding musical talent to benefit from either our BMus or BA performance course. And I am pleased that the first recipient of the Strummerville Scholarship, Laurent Judson, commenced his studies this week. We are now working to develop a number of collaborative projects in the wider community.
I am delighted to announce this evening that Strummerville – The Joe Strummer New Music Foundation is now Tech Music School London’s nominated charity”.
