‘Road To Strummerville’ by The Zips to raise funds for Strummerville

Glasgow punk band, The Zips, have just been given the go-ahead by the Strummerville charity, to release a download-only single, for their benefit.

The song called, Road To Strummerville, is a tribute to Joe Strummer, the late, and much-loved frontman of The Clash, as we approach the 10th anniversary of his untimely death, on 22nd December. It is available to download now, from www.cdbaby.com, amazon, amazingtunes.com, and iTunes, and other digital sites, soon.

Never one for being pushy, it is to my eternal regret, that I didn’t hang around the back doors of Glasgow’s Barrowlands or King Tuts, when Joe was playing, fronting either The Clash, or latterly, The Mescaleros.

“I knew him, but not really. I saw him, but he didn’t see me…..”

The song has so far had airplay on Near FM (Dublin), Amazing Radio, and an NYC college station.
