Book Launch Party for Punk Rock Warlord: The Life and Work of Joe Strummer

Punk Rock Warlord Joe Strummer - Strummerville

The book launch Party for Punk Rock Warlord: The Life and Work of Joe Strummer will include a Q&A session with some of the book’s contributors, a set of 101er’s, Clash and Mescaleros songs performed by the much loved 48 Thrills, DJ set from Ray – Rude Boy – Gange, Pop Up Joe Strummer Gallery, Special Guests and an opportunity to buy the book at a discount.

The Elgin – where Joe Strummer’s first band the 101er’s had a residency in the mid 70s – is also just a few minutes walk from the wonderful W11 Joe Strummer mural! The event is partnered by the Strummerville Foundation for New Music.

Punk Rock Warlord is the first peer-reviewed, academic work to reflect on the life and work of the late Joe Strummer. The book explores the relevance of Joe Strummer within the continuing legacies of both punk rock and progressive politics.

It is aimed at scholars and general readers interested in Joe Strummer, the Clash, punk culture and the intersection between popular music and politics on both sides of the Atlantic. The book includes contributions from Mark Bedford, Matthew Worley, Alex Ogg, Barry Faulk, Brady Harrison, Edward Shannon, Lauren Onkey, Brian Cogan, Jeremy Tranmer, Maria Raha, Justin Wadlow, Walidah Imarisha and Chris Barsanti.
