You helped us raise £1,733.25 for Freedom From Torture who are the only organisation in the UK dedicated solely to the treatment and rehabilitation of survivors of torture.
The funds will go towards the support of a new Beginners Group of 20 participants (10 male and 10 females), who will be supported by professional musicians to develop personal expression and creativity and discuss themes and important messages the survivors wish to convey through collaborative song-writing.
“Freedom from Torture is greatly appreciative of the Joe Strummer Foundation fundraising campaign, which has raised £1,733.25, to enable survivors of torture, with no access to the arts, to engage in creating original and thought-provoking music, and inspire audiences within the established arts community, and those with little previous engagement with the arts on refugee issues” – Heather Alari, Trusts and Grants Fundraiser
We think Freedom from Torture are doing an incredible job and wish them continued success in their work. “The Joe Strummer Foundation are delighted to have raised £1733.25 for this quite fantastic cause and we would like to thank all of our loyal supporters for their generosity.” – Jamie Webb, Charity Coordinator
