On Friday December 20th at The World Café Live at The Queen in Wilmington, Delaware USA we will celebrate the life of Clash lead singer, guitarist and co-founder Joe Strummer. Tric Town’s December event will be titled IN MEMORY OF JOE STRUMMER: A Benefit for STRUMMERVILLE.
Following in the tradition of events presented the last two years at The North Star Bar in Philadelphia, where over $1000 was donated to the Strummerville charity, Tric Town will host seven area bands and local DJ Shadylady spinning in between sets. The event is All Ages for the first time and 100% of the door proceeds, as well as a portion of venue revenue will be donated to the charity. The cover is $8 and additional donations will also be accepted.
Local acts The Fakirs, Disaster Committee, The Future Unwritten, The Headies, The Keefs, Tin Can Ramblers and The Lift Up will all perform. This will give the night a mix of Punk Rock, Alt Rock, Alt Country, Early Rock N Roll and Garage Rock bands interpreting the Punk Rock, Reggae, Ska and World Music songs of Joe Strummer. Bands will play a mix of songs from Joe Strummer’s entire career including cuts from The Clash, The 101ers and Joe Strummer and The Mescaleros. Doors for the event are at 7pm and music starts shortly there after.
Tric Town is currently celebrating its 12th year, and continues to be Delaware’s longest running monthly live music series.
